True Wealth: A Tale of Luxury and Contentment
In ancient times, there was a wealthy man named "Hatim" who lived in a grand palace surrounded by lush gardens.
He had more gold and silver than generations could spend. However, he was arrogant and indifferent to the poor, showing no compassion toward them.
In contrast, a poor man named "Salim" lived in a small hut with his wife and children.
He was kind-hearted, worked hard, and never complained about his poverty.
Instead, he was always smiling, content with his life, and grateful for what he had.
The First Encounter
One day, Hatim passed through the city market and saw Salim sitting on the ground, eating a piece of dry bread with a little soup while laughing happily.
Surprised by his joy, Hatim mockingly asked:
Hatim: How can you laugh when you own nothing?
Salim: Happiness is not in wealth, but in contentment.
Hatim laughed scornfully and said, “If you had my fortune, you wouldn’t say such things!” He then threw a bag of gold at him and said, “Take this money and change your life if you can!”
Salim took the money, but instead of using it for himself, he helped the poor and needy.
The Harsh Lesson
Over time, Hatim’s business suffered heavy losses, and he lost all his fortune due to his greed-driven decisions.
He found himself alone after all those who flattered him for his wealth abandoned him.
One day, he felt extreme hunger and had no food. Remembering Salim, he went to his hut seeking help. Salim welcomed him warmly and offered him food.
Deeply moved by his generosity, Hatim sighed and said, “Now I understand—my happiness was never in gold and palaces, but in a kind heart and being content with what I have.”
Salim smiled and replied, “True wealth is the wealth of the soul, not the wealth of money.”
Moral of the Story
Money can buy material things, but it cannot buy happiness or true love.
True happiness lies in contentment, helping others, and having a pure heart.
Say anything 😀
