-Preparation:
- Steak Preparation:
1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the steak slices and sear them on both sides for 3-4 minutes until golden. Transfer the steaks to a plate and set aside.
2. In the same skillet, add the onions and garlic and sauté until they soften and turn golden. Then add the green and red peppers and cook until the vegetables are tender.
3. Season the vegetables with salt, black pepper, cumin, smoked paprika, and thyme. Stir well.
4. Return the steak slices to the skillet and mix them with the vegetables for another 2-3 minutes. Add the lemon juice and let the steak absorb the flavors.
5. Transfer the steak and vegetables to a baking dish, cover it with foil, and place it in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 20-25 minutes.
-Rice Preparation:
1. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden.
2. Add the turmeric and a pinch of cinnamon (if desired) and stir to combine with the onions.
3. Add the basmati rice and sauté for 2-3 minutes, coating the rice with butter and spices.
4. Pour in the beef or chicken broth and bring the mixture to a boil. Cover the pot, reduce the heat, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the rice is fully cooked.
-Golden Gravy Preparation:
1. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and stir continuously until it turns light golden.
2. Add the tomato paste and turmeric and stir well for about a minute.
3. Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes until the gravy thickens.
4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
-Serving:
1. Place the cooked rice on a serving plate.
2. Top the rice with the steak slices and garnish with the cooked pepper slices.
3. Drizzle the golden gravy over the steak and rice, and serve hot with a side salad or bread.
This dish combines the rich flavor of the steak, the aromatic spices of the peppers, tender rice, and the delightful golden gravy, making it a perfect meal.
