How to Make Moroccan Kaab El Ghazal: A Traditional Gazelle Horns Recipe

 - Moroccan Kaab El Ghazal (Gazelle Horns)


   -Ingredients:


-  For the Dough:

- 250 grams of white flour

- 50 grams of melted butter

- 1 teaspoon of sugar

- A pinch of salt

- Orange blossom water for kneading


     -For the Filling:

- 250 grams of blanched and ground almonds

- 100 grams of powdered sugar

- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

- 1 teaspoon of melted butter

- Orange blossom water for shaping


        -Preparation:


     1. Preparing the Dough:

   - In a large bowl, mix the flour, melted butter, sugar, and a pinch of salt.

   - Gradually add the orange blossom water while kneading the mixture until you get a smooth and firm dough.

   - Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.


       2. Preparing the Filling:

   - In a bowl, combine the ground almonds, powdered sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter.

   - Gradually add the orange blossom water until you get a firm paste that can be easily shaped.


      3. Shaping the Pastry:

   - Divide the dough into small balls and roll each one out with a rolling pin until very thin.

   - Place a small piece of the filling in the center of the dough and shape it into a crescent (or horn) shape.

   - Press the dough around the filling to ensure it is sealed well, and trim off any excess dough.



        4. Baking:

   - Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

   - Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

   - Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until they turn a light golden color.


     5. Serving:

   - Let the pastries cool completely before serving. They can be dusted with powdered sugar or served as is.


This traditional Moroccan pastry is often served during special occasions and holidays.
